This review will have to be a to-be-continued, as I haven’t really worn the shoe yet because of the size. I ordered my usual size (have two other New Balance pairs in this size), but it was too small so I’ll have to exchange it for a size larger.
The shoe does feel very comfortable though, from the minute or two I had it on, and the pictures here accurately show what it looks like in real life.
The one thing that kind of concerns me though, is that if you look closely at the picture, notice the laces only go through two loops per side. When I tried to tighten the shoe, it didn’t really make much difference (as opposed to leaving it loose). It felt like I’d either have to really yank on it, which I didn’t want to do for fear of breaking the semi-elastic lace, since I’m returning this pair for the larger size, or cut and replace the elastic/draw-cord laces with real laces. If you like tight fitting shoes, you may want to reconsider this one whereas if you just want something to kick around in, these should work.
Other than that, the shoe seems like it’ll be a winner once I get the right size for me. I like the way it felt and looked.

I bought a pair of these New Balance Water shoes for myself and my husband for our vacation in Costa Rica. We bought these instead of the typical amphibian shoes from Teva or Salmon because we thought these shoes are more athletic looking. These shoes are comfortable and functional. We wore these for our waterfall rappelling trip and they were awesome! We didn’t have to switch shoes between hiking and jumping off the waterfalls. The soles provide good grips on wet rocks. My husband was so impressed by these shoes!
We read from another review that the back of the shoe cut into your heels. The shoes did that a little bit when we first wore them – on hiking excursions in two consecutive days (hiked approximately 8 miles). We noticed that our heels were red and experienced a bit of discomfort, but they were nowhere near bleeding. We broke in our shoes after a few days of wearing.
You wear these shoes without socks. They are true to their size so buy the size you would normally get for your tennis shoes. Highly recommend it for outdoor adventure trips!

I bought these shoes to be able to take with me on the road and not take up a ton of room in my suitcase. They flatten down, but still provide some support. They are comfortable and fun to wear!

Purchased both the men’s and women’s version of this shoe for a recent cruise with my girlfriend. We purchased a half size larger and they fit exactly right. Unfortunately, the heel area is built with an abrasive material that cuts into your Achilles Heel. After wearing for a day, both of our heels started to bleed forcing us to wear these shoes like flip flops. They are very nice and stylish, but the design makes them useless.
